Amidst the Chaos, Karnataka Politics Coming a Full Circle

Yedurappa-Kumaraswamy-Siddaramaiah

Often, life comes a full circle and gives us a ‘déjà vu’ and same can be said about Karnataka Politics right now.

As we wait for the floor test to know the legitimate CM of Karnataka, an audio tape alleging horse trading has been released by the Congress. However, BJP has rejected the allegations as baseless.
Prior to this, Congress and JD(S) had taken all their MLA's to various undisclosed resorts in Bangalore and Hyderabad to avoid poaching attempt by the BJP.  Despite this, few MLA's from the coalition have gone missing.

This reminds me of October 2010 when BJP was in complete majority, however, there was a turmoil and resentment within the party.

Then, a crisis-ridden BJP, which was ruling only in few states, was making an all-out attempt to successfully pass the floor test in Karnataka.

Most of the MLA's were taken to undisclosed resorts by Yeddyurappa, the then CM of Karanataka whereas some of the rebels were taken by JD(S). Chaotic politicaldrama to usurp power was at full display.

Finally, just a day ahead of the floor test, BJP had released an audio tape where HD Kumaraswamy was trying to lure the then BJP MLA Appachchu Ranjan. This was disclosed by A.Ranjan himself, that he had been offered a cabinet ministry for abstaining his vote and crossing over to JD(S).
However, Mr. Kumaraswamy had rejected the allegations as baseless.

Unfortunately, Horse trading and "Resort" politics is not a new thing in Karnataka politics, however we can definitely say, Karnataka politics has come a full circle for both the parties.

Now when SC has rejected “Congress - JD(S)” request challenging the appointment of Protem speaker KG Bopaiah, we will wait until 4 pm for the power packed action to start.
