Amidst the Chaos, Karnataka Politics Coming a Full Circle

Yedurappa-Kumaraswamy-Siddaramaiah

Often, life comes a full circle and gives us a ‘déjà vu’ and same can be said about Karnataka Politics right now.

As we wait for the floor test to know the legitimate CM of Karnataka, an audio tape alleging horse trading has been released by the Congress. However, BJP has rejected the allegations as baseless.
Prior to this, Congress and JD(S) had taken all their MLA's to various undisclosed resorts in Bangalore and Hyderabad to avoid poaching attempt by the BJP.  Despite this, few MLA's from the coalition have gone missing.

This reminds me of October 2010 when BJP was in complete majority, however, there was a turmoil and resentment within the party.

Then, a crisis-ridden BJP, which was ruling only in few states, was making an all-out attempt to successfully pass the floor test in Karnataka.

Most of the MLA's were taken to undisclosed resorts by Yeddyurappa, the then CM of Karanataka whereas some of the rebels were taken by JD(S). Chaotic politicaldrama to usurp power was at full display.

Finally, just a day ahead of the floor test, BJP had released an audio tape where HD Kumaraswamy was trying to lure the then BJP MLA Appachchu Ranjan. This was disclosed by A.Ranjan himself, that he had been offered a cabinet ministry for abstaining his vote and crossing over to JD(S).
However, Mr. Kumaraswamy had rejected the allegations as baseless.

Unfortunately, Horse trading and "Resort" politics is not a new thing in Karnataka politics, however we can definitely say, Karnataka politics has come a full circle for both the parties.

Now when SC has rejected “Congress - JD(S)” request challenging the appointment of Protem speaker KG Bopaiah, we will wait until 4 pm for the power packed action to start.

Kathua and Unnao rape case who is to be blamed? Victim, Police, Government or Society!

In January 2018, an 8 year old girl Asifa from Kathuadistrict of Jammu and Kashmir, went out to graze her horses little did she knew the horrors she was going to face. Her innocence was torn apart; her body was tormented beyond the limits any human could ever bear. One such similar incident happened in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. All of it done was just to quench sexual desires by sexual predator. Who cannot differentiate between a child and a woman, what this child was reduced to was just a walking vagina to them. This Kathua and Unnao rape case incident has put the nation in a state of shock.

Who is to be blamed for rape cases and sick Incidents of similar nature, the Government, the rapists, the victim herself or the society that we live in? Let us make it easier for you to understand who is at fault by taking each and every factor into consideration to be at fault. The Government cannot be fully blamed for rape cases as the government is an image of its people itself. The victim who has been traumatized and has to live with this for her whole life and also has to face flak from the society can in no way be deemed as the culprit and calling her as such would be immoral based on her dressing sense or why was she out of the home at any time and any place. Coming to the Rapist and Society, as you could see how society plays a role in every factor be it Government, Victim or the Rapist you all can draw a single term coherent with all the three i.e. Society, which stays at the epicenter of these cases and needs to be blamed for these rape cases majorly. As Rapists originate from the Society itself, here we need to also look into what condition does come into force that leads one person to commit such heinous act.  We need to understand the basics factors or strands of the psychology that encourages one to do such a thing and one thing stands tall as the sole reason i.e. Patriarchy.

Patriarchy is so deeply embedded in our cultures our society that one does not need to go into remote areas of our country to watch patriarchy come into practice, we can simply observe patriarchy defining our very lives in our very homes. Where women are subjugated and are just seen as good for cooking, bearing children and are always seen as lower to men in every aspect. Women are killed in the name of male honor, they are not allowed to get themselves educated, they are stalked and what not. But it does not matters to us as it is not happening to us, but it is happening all around us, in Metro’s, buses, colleges, offices, streets, etc. What should be done to ensure all of this does not happen?

Death is the punishment demanded by many for giving justice in such grave incidents but it would not have much of an impact as it should have as death penalty may kill the accused but the thought process may not be killed, this community of sick rapists would stop for a while but would again come out to commit this brutality. The day Indian families we stop treating boys as superior or more precious than girls, more than half of the problem can get rectified here another half would need structural reforms in education, families and society to battle this problem or it would soon plague every household of the country. After which no one would be left to be blamed for rape cases in our country and we’ll notice more and more incidents like Kathua and Unnao even on our streets.

So it is a request to all of you to dissolve these barriers of patriarchy and unite against the common enemy! Let us teach our children, brothers, friends, relatives meaning of consent, meaning of a "NO" so, that no other has to suffer Nirbhaya, Asifa, and the names are just piling up, and is bring shame to the country of Kalpana Chawla, Saina Nehwal, Indira Gandhi and every woman achiever that has ever lived.
